Off To Palm Springs!

Well...I'm off to the 122 degrees of heat one might call Palm Springs! I'm headed to the Palm Springs International ShortFest.

Bascially it will be four days spent in darkness...I'll spend the majority of my day in a dark theatre watching short films and it's usually after dark when we emerge from what seems  like the bowels of the theatre - just in time for some good food, drinks and all the great filmmaker parties...!!!

So - I think I may be on a sconce kick - or more to the point - a sconce, emitting light, casting shadows on the wall, kick...because here's another.

Hopefully I'll have lots of fun stuff to share when I get back...

Have a great weekend!

  1. KK - Have a great time! I love this photo. The colors are wonderful and the illumination is great.

  2. Hey KK,

Great shot, I love the angle you captured this one! The coloring is superb!!!!!!!!!

I'm surprised you didn't ask, what is it. I see a floor lamp in a corner (am I right)?
Have a grand time in the dark room.

    Love Mommy

  3. This one has such a great feel of mystery to if to ask "what's around the corner?"

  4. This one has a darker tone than the previous one. It feels to me a little more ominous in a way. Is the wall actually curved or is that just a result of how the light is reflected against the wall? Either way I like the effect.

  5. The Food Librarian - thanks! i've really started to get into shooting at night...

    Mom - thank's another sconce...couldn't help myself!

Fligg - hey there. thanks for the comment. mystery and intrique...all in a nights work :-)

Amber - i agree. certainly not as inviting. no - the wall isn't curved. the light is being reflected out of a cylinder which makes the light bend as it hits the wall...thanks for the comments.

  7. Okay, you got me with the sconces. I thought the first one was a stairwell to some underground club or something. The palm tree is gorgeous. It looks very festive by the way it's lit. Your childhood picture tickles me - I love it.

  8. The colors and textures you're working with are some of my favorites. I really like the warmth of the metal and the long shadows. Feeling a little inspired. Ummmmmm.
