Cookie Monster

How absolutely hysterical is this...here I am as Cookie Monster! For my Studio Lighting class we had to shoot each other's portrait. Instead of the traditional headshot - I chose to be Cookie Monster...it was soooooo incredibly hot inside that thing...I don't know how people do it!

I wanted to have a little fun...so I had pink cookies made - thinking it would be a nice contrast to the blue fur. Loving the yellow backdrop!

The photos are courtesy of my classmate - David.

Santa Fe Sky

One of the very first things that struck me as awesome in Santa Fe was the sky! I was absolutely fascinated with the cloud formations and how blue & clear the sky is there...not cloudless "clear", but glass-like clear...Beautiful!

I'm curious - what's your favorite part of nature?

Robert & Jill Married!

Robert - my friend of over 12 years got married this weekend to the love of his life - Jill! The wedding took place in beautiful Santa Fe, NM.

Robert and Jill - here's to a healthy, happy and committed marriage! Cheers...

The flower girls picking up rose petals off the ground - ooops...

Kids love weddings! The little girl on the right actually walked down the aisle without any assistance and/or encouragement...

My favorite part of the wedding is when the groom sees the bride for the first time! I know - I'm a sucker for romance...

Needless to say Jill was very emotional when she saw Robert standing at the end of the aisle...

The happy groom with his friends...

I love the vintage look and feel of this photograph - I had to add it to the bunch...

Happy Monday

I just got back from Robert and Jill's wedding in Santa Fe...had a fabulous time! I'll post some pics from their wedding later on this week.

While walking through the center of Santa Fe, I came across this really lovely courtyard garden...here's a sunflower that was still in bloom.

What did YOU do this weekend? Do tell....

Kennedy

My neice Kennedy called me today super excited...she wanted to let me know that she had lost yet another tooth...that makes at least two in the very front...

I know summer is over (supposedly), but I just couldn't help sharing at least two of the many faces of Kennedy...

Gymkhana

Went to Christine's horse show at the Action Ranger Arena - came back home as one gigantic dust ball - but I had a great, great time.

Christine - thanks for sharing such a special day...Batman is a gorgeous horse and clearly he loves you as much as you love him...

Apocalypse Now II?

Thank you all for your wonderful guesses... From a tank, to a diner, to a train and an above water submarine...somebody said "junked boat" - that was close... An abandoned plane? No... An abandoned ship? No... The abandoned trailer was close too... Well - here it is...it was an abandoned van that was left out in the middle of nowhere off Route 66.

As you can see...the thing has been totally junked...I couldn't even begin to identify the make and model of the vehicle - but I thought it was darn interesting and decided to climb in for a look/photo out the back/side window.

You can see the oval window in the photo on the right (towards the back of the van)...that's the oval window in Apocalypse Now?

Who is this person that spray painted "I AM NAPOLEAN" on the side of this van and did they really mean "I AM NAPOLEON"? I wonder...

Apocalypse Now?

Perhaps I'm being a little dramatic with the title as clearly this is not Vietnam...

Strangely enough - it's right here in California - only a few hours in on Route 66...certainly not the Route 66 I remember from Cars.

I won't tell you how I shot this because I actually want to post that photo next - but you tell me...obviously it's shot through a window...but what's the scenario here - take a wild guess...

Can you paint the picture for me using your words???

Camp GetAway

I mentioned Camp GetAway in a post a couple of days ago and "Shannon the Frog" asked me to talk a little bit more about my experience there...

Loved it!

Camp GetAway is a weekend retreat for mothers and others (or as I like to put it - overstressed women). I'm not a mother - so I'm one of the "others" - but I gotta' tell 'ya...I absolutely, positively enjoyed every moment of it. I even made it onto their website - you can check me out by clicking here. I'm top row middle - with the big cheesy grin on my face!

We sang karaoke, went hiking, ate, played games, watched "chick flicks", sang songs, ate some more, did some arts & crafts, they gave away door prizes, we drank, ate some more, got spa treatments, did some yoga and learned how to dance... You could do all of those things or nothing at all - totally up to you.

The camp is run by Patti Londre (better know as The Fearless Leader) and I don't know how she keeps it all together - but somehow she does...

If you've got a free weekend and you need a break...go for it - you'll be glad you did!

Narnia

This shot reminds me of something from The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Very magical...

I went on a weekend retreat at Camp Getaway and had a great time wandering around the Barton Flats area of the San Bernardino National Forest to see what trouble I could get into...At an elevation of 6,800 feet, the camp is surrounded by a forest of towering pines, cedars and oaks – absolutely stunning!

Tons of bark was strewn around on the forest floor and one piece in particular struck me as beautiful (in a creepy kinda' way). When my friend held it up - I noticed it had a hole in it. What an interesting way to view the forest - through a hole in a piece of bark...
